ABOUT

I have been painting for some time exploring a range of styles and voices. Always about presence, surface and concept, my work first gained attention in the East Village in New York in the 1980's. Initially recognized for my abstract pieces, and then my faux primitive Timemarkers, I now employ found and repurposed materials for futuristic totems. I am currently living and working in LA.

I also explore other absorbing modes of creativity - not always a studio practice, as they say - such as my involvement with skateboarding and founding SKATE N.Y.C., online design, as well as art sharing in Africa.

1980 - 1984

These are paintings created in a trance-like state where I was channelling some power beyond me into purist abstractions, pieces to be felt as much as seen.
